GCSE RESULTS 2026
Following on from last week’s fine set of A Level and BTEC results, we are delighted to announce another impressive set of GCSE and Level 2 results this year. These reflect the tremendous hard work students have put in over the course of their studies, alongside the high-quality teaching and tireless support provided by staff which has played such a pivotal role in securing these outcomes.
There was much euphoria, and some relief, as the long summer wait was over and envelopes could be ripped open allowing students to finally celebrate and enjoy their well-deserved successes!
Mr Prendergast, Head of Year 11, was thrilled with the outcomes: “Our congratulations to all the students for their individual effort and dedication, but also for how fantastically they worked as a community of students, supporting one another and showing real determination, commitment and ambition to achieve these wonderful successes. It has been a privilege to be their Head of Year.”
Alongside the many outstanding individual performances, the following students deserve particular congratulation for gaining the equivalent of eight or more A grades and securing the top Grade 9 in several subjects: Seth (7 x Grade 9’s), Hardy (5 x Grade 9’s), Bella (4 x Grade 9’s), Frankie, Jo and Cale (3 x Grade 9’s).
Keith Hales, Headteacher, said: “Today is about celebrating our talented, well-rounded and highly qualified young people. I am full of admiration for the way in which the students have approached their studies and extend my thanks to our supportive parent community, as well as to our skilled staff. Collectively and individually, the students have done superbly, laying really strong foundations for the next stage of their educational journey which promises to be very exciting.”
Sarah Walters, Head of Sixth Form, was equally proud: “We are very much looking forward to working with this cohort of students, many of whom are staying with us and moving on up into our Sixth Form. Any student who is still unsure about where to pursue their studies next year is invited to contact the school to discuss possible A-Level and Level 3 options.”

A LEVEL and BTEC RESULTS 2026
The Beaminster Colfox Joint Sixth Form is celebrating a fine set of A Level and BTEC results this year with students getting into their first choice universities, degree apprenticeships, or taking their first steps into the workplace.
Many students have either achieved or exceeded predicted grades and are to be
congratulated on their fantastic results, which stem from commitment and hard work
combined with excellent teaching and support.
Students of particular note this year are: Laura Devine A*A*AA; Oliver Chaning Pearce A*A*A with A for EPQ, Poppy Bridges A*AA with A in Core Maths; Finn Brooks AAA; Alisa Herasymova A*A*B; Louisa Bower A* ABB; Iris Stephens A*AB; Lily Papworth, Arturo Webster-Botella, Hector Masters, Gus Gowrie and Jacob Hart AAB; Neve Dodds ABB with A in EPQ. Tegan Parr and Maisie Macdonald both excelled in the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport, gaining D*D*D and DDD respectively.
Mr Shelley, Head of Colfox, said, “These best-ever results for students from disadvantaged backgrounds reflect our commitment to ensuring every young person in West Dorset has access to fantastic opportunities, the right support and the chance to thrive.”
Keith Hales, Headteacher at Beaminster School added, “The resilience and
determination shown by our young people over the past two years has paid
dividends with these very encouraging outcomes. We believe that our students are
always much more than simply a grade and we couldn’t be prouder of everything
they have achieved.”
Adam Teasdale, Head of Sixth Form at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said, “This particular cohort of students worked very hard to achieve results they can be proud of. I’m certainly proud of this set of results.”

Students in the Joint Sixth Form excelled at getting into their chosen universities with most students securing their first choice. Students are now moving on to universities right
across the country including Exeter, Liverpool, Royal Holloway, Cardiff, Bath, Southampton, Warwick and The Royal Agricultural Society, with eight students progressing to the University of Bristol. Students are also taking on Open University degrees, apprenticeships, such as accountancy and optometry and Gabriel Bowditch is starting a Degree Apprenticeship with Leonardo Helicopters.
